Academics
At the University of Florida I have pursed a Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering along with a certificate in Engineering Project Management. I have been most involved in the Generational Relief in Prosthetics Organization, GRiP, as a design team member, captain, and recipient coordinator. I've had an incredible experience and met so many inspirational and driven individuals who have guided me and shaped me in to the person I am today.
Skills
The following skills highlight core traits that I find the most valuable. I have grown more of an appreciation and understanding for each one. These are characteristics I hold strongly and believe have made me a better person, friend, and co-worker.
Communication
I believe communication is the most powerful skill to learn. Regardless of experience or technicality, without communication ideas are unable to be expressed properly. This transcends language but rather willingness and patience to listen to others. I have learned to have patience with others and inspired to work with others, to learn their experiences and create meaningful conversations.
Leadership
I have held several leadership experiences at the university including one with the Chinese American Student Organization and Zenith Bible Study. Both of these organizations focus on cultural engagement and are targeted towards the Asian American Community. Throughout these positions I have learned the significance of strong community, organization, and logistics. Community is essential in making everyone feel welcome and creating a sense of belonging. This can only occur with strong organization and logistics to provide clear instruction for others and enjoyment of resources.
Adaptability
Coming into college I thought my career would be very different and even throughout I pursued various majors and minors that I thought would be useful for my future career. I have learned to adapt to opportunity and reach towards my strengths as well as core beliefs. I have learned to embrace a new, inspiring, and possibly international career as well as relationships that push me and drive me towards love and success
Cultural Awareness
At the University of Florida I met so many people from various backgrounds and from around the world. I’ve learned many cultural practices and experienced various family practices. It has given me a deeper appreciation and understanding of others, allowing me to communicate more effectively and understand where they are coming from. Broadening my cultural awareness has also given me a deeper admiration for my peers and their experiences.
